What’s in our formula?

e.sup’s scientifically-developed formula delivers powerful natural cleaning. So what do we include in our formula?  Our soda range has been developed in partnership with a Sydney based formulations laboratory.  This highly experienced lab has trained experts who understand the importance of quality ingredients in the right blend.  Together we have created a natural yet highly effective concentrated cleaning solution in a powder.  We wanted to leave out the water so you are only buying the ingredients you don’t already have.

Our active ingredients are: plant based enzymes, coconut based surfactants and pure essential oils.

Natural essential oils

The use of essential oils for household medicinal and cleaning purposes goes back as far as the Egyptian times. And it’s easy to see why; essential oils not only have a beautiful, natural fragrance but also antimicrobial qualities which makes them ideal for cleaning.

All of the oils used in e.sup products have antibacterial and antifungal properties, with a stunning fragrance. Synthetic fragrances have been attributed to respiratory and hormone disruption problems, making e.sup the ideal choice for people wanting to minimise synthetic substances in their household.

Grime busting enzymes

Enzymes are the perfect grime busting ingredient to break down the proteins, fats and starches found in stains.

e.sup uses a scientifically-formulated blend of naturally-based enzymes, specially formulated for your home. The enzymes in our cleaners are not living organisms so can’t grow, they simply deliver powerful cleaning to break down large molecules.

Coconut-derived surfactants

Almost all soaps include surfactants, and the ones found in e.sup’s products are naturally based and derived from coconut. (sodium cocoyl isethionate and sodium coco sulfate). Mild and non-irritant, they couldn’t be further away from some of the common surfactants used in larger brand products.

Surfactants (which is short for Surface Active Agent) are chemicals that lower the surface tension of a liquid. The less surface tension a liquid has, the more it can soak into a surface. And the more it can soak into a surface, the deeper the clean.

Naturally-based builders

Naturally Based Acids and Alkalis

Builders are mineral salts that increase cleaning power by raising the alkalinity or pH of a product, making them perfect for cleaning oily stains. Our builders are naturally-based and include sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate and a polymer.

To add more cleaning power and neutralise the pH of the sodas we use naturally based acids. Citric acid is a go to for this job. Combined, these make cleaning as easy as possible.

Other ingredients

All products that last longer than a few weeks need to have a preservative in them. We wanted our products to last more than 6 months, so we’ve added a mild preservative. Given cleaning products are not consumed, this is the best and safest option to create a longer-lasting shelf life.

Alcohol was originally thought to have been developed for medicinal purposes and is still widely used today as a disinfectant. In fact, it’s one of the main ingredients in hand sanitizers, which we use regularly.

Why concentrates are the way forward

Save space, save energy, save the planet.

“One of the biggest contributors to plastic waste in Australia is packaging, of which there is just under one million tonnes in our marketplace at any given time. Only about 32% of this is recovered and less than 5% is made of recycled plastic.”  WWF Australia
